Duties and Responsibilities:

Positions:

  • Director General of Police (DGP): The highest-ranking police officer in a state or in a central organization like the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), etc.
  • Inspector General of Police (IGP): Head of police in a zone or a large city.
  • Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG): In charge of ranges, police districts, or specialized branches.
  • Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)/Superintendent of Police (SP): In charge of a district or a city's police administration.
  • Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)/Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP): Assistants to SPs responsible for specific areas or functions.
